Field Hockey Players Earn Spot on National Academic Squad
The National Field Hockey Coaches Association recently announced that eight members of Brewster’s varsity field hockey team were named to the Keith Waldman – Optimal Performance Associates/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) High School National Academic Squad.
The National Academic Squad program recognizes high school seniors and juniors who have achieved a minimum cumulative, unweighted GPA of 3.5 out of 4.0 or the equivalent through the first quarter of the 2016-2017 school year. There were a total of 2,524 honorees on this year’s squad coming from 328 schools.
Seniors and juniors who have achieved a minimum cumulative, unweighted GPA of 3.9 out of 4.0 or the equivalent through the first quarter of the 2016-2017 school year have been recognized as Scholars of Distinction. A total of 715 students received the Scholars of Distinction designation.
Brewster students named Scholars of Distinction are seniors Angela First (Houston) and Julia Sledzik (Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida) and junior Maura McDonald (Beverly, Massachusetts). Students earning the former honor are seniors Abigayle Callahan (Wolfeboro) and Shayla Meehan (Tuftonboro, New Hampshire) and juniors Emily Erne (Old Lyme, Connecticut), Katie Slock (Alton, New Hampshire), and Emily Tremblay (Concord, New Hampshire).
The 2016 field hockey team finished its season 9-6 and earned a bid to the New England playoffs.
