Alex Weiss to Train With German National Lax Squad
Brewster Academy 2016 graduate Alex Weiss recently earned a spot on the national training squad of the German Men’s National Lacrosse Team. Weiss, who is from Mirror Lake, New Hampshire, holds dual citizenship in the United States and Germany. He travelled to Munich this winter to participate in tryouts, competing with players from throughout Germany. His play earned him a spot on the national training squad roster for the 2017-2018 season, on the path to the Federation of International Lacrosse Men’s World Championships in Manchester, England in July 2018. He will be training with the team in both Germany and America while studying at Sacred Heart University.
“This is a huge accomplishment for Alex, and we are all very proud of him here at Brewster,” said Director of Athletics Matt Lawlor. “Alex is a talented and dedicated athlete who has a distinct passion for lacrosse. It’s great to see him bring his game to Germany, and we are excited to watch him compete against the top talent worldwide!”
Weiss was a two-sport standout at Brewster playing both lacrosse and basketball. In his senior year for the Bobcats, he was captain in both sports and was an All-League selection in lacrosse. Currently, Weiss is taking a postgraduate year at the Westminster School in Connecticut and will attend Sacred Heart University in the fall where he will play lacrosse for the Pioneers.
